Free Pottery Workshops in North Petherwin – Thanks to Cornwall Community Foundation!

We’re bringing something exciting to North Petherwin!
Petherwin Makes is a three-month project funded by Cornwall Community Foundation, offering six free pottery workshops at the Village Hall. These sessions will run every two weeks and welcome up to 12 people each time. You’ll learn hand-building techniques like coiling, pinching, and slab building, and create your own pieces—think mugs, vases, and even quirky decorative chickens—all in a relaxed, friendly setting.
The best part? It’s completely free! The grant covers materials, facilitation, and venue hire, so everyone can join in. These workshops aren’t just about making pottery—they’re about making connections. We know from chatting with local residents, the church, and the parish hall that people want more chances to meet, learn, and feel part of something. Rural life can be isolating, and creative activities are hard to come by. This project gives people a welcoming space to build confidence, reduce loneliness, and maybe even discover a new hobby.
Our aim is to spark an ongoing craft group so creativity and connection continue long after the funded sessions. Thanks to Cornwall Community Foundation, we’re creating something fun, inclusive, and good for the whole community.
